In the work entitled “ microwave assisted synthesis and pharmacological screening of some thiazolylquinazolinone” quinazoline-4-ones are among the most important class of heterocyclic compounds. These compounds possess versatile biological activities, some of these are well known for their anticancer, antitubercular, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-HIV, anthelmentic, anti-inflammatory and antihypertensive activities. Moreover thiazolidinone have been shown to have various important biological activities such as antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, diuretic, anti-tuberculostatic, anti-HIV, antihistaminic, anticancer, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory and analgesic. The biological significance of these class of compound impelled us to continue working on the synthesis of new quinzolinone derivative. In view of this, it was proposed to synthesize quinazolinone derivatives possessing thiazolidinone moiety with the hope to have new compounds with better activity. Since quinazolinone derivatives have been studied extensively and found to have diverse chemical reactivity and broad spectrum of biological activity, given below is a brief account of various alterations done on quinazoline ring and their associated biological activities.
