This paper deals with the Basic communication model and the types of fibers for the optical fiber communication system. Then the different technologies in optical fiber communication along with their features are discussed briefly. Some comparisons of optical signals with the traditional electrical signals are explained concisely. Finally the general system of optical fiber communication is briefly mentioned along with its advantages and limitations. The future aspects of the Optical Fiber is also shows that how the new technology can be overcome the shortcomings of the old one.
