Abstract: Over the last few years, the emphasis on reducing fuel emissions has been an agenda for many governments. To reduce the carbon from the exhaust, all automotive manufacturers have started looking for an alternate fuel for their IC engines. Ethanol fuel emerging as the most likely option to be used as fuel in whole or with blending with gasoline. Ethanol, which is known as ethyl alcohol, is easily derived from corn, sugarcane, grain, etc. Ethanol is more commonly used in our lives than we may think. After all, any alcoholic beverage we drink comprises Ethanol. It is available with different names such as Ethyl alcohol, pure alcohol, and grain alcohol with different moisture contents. It is regarded as an alternative fuel that has gained much popularity for several reasons. It is a cleaner fuel as it releases fewer emissions into the environment when used as ethanol blended with gasoline. It also keeps the engine in better condition by increasing the fuel’s octane rating. It is accepted by the people, governments, and automotive manufacturers for its many benefits. The government of India also promotes the usage of ethanol-blended fuel in India and implemented 20% of ethanol in gasoline from Bengaluru and will implement pan India in the near future. To use ethanol fuel, fuel system components are to be validated whether they are good to go or need some modification to handle the ethanol. In this study, the Fuel injector is considered a target fuel system component. A fuel injector is a very critical part and highly responsible for emission controlling as it controls and provides the metered atomized fuel. To do this study critical performance parameters were identified and fuel injectors were subjected to rigorous testing in a controlled environment with E10, E20and E30 (anhydrous).
