Abstract: This paper presents the power quality problem of the large LED screen on the electrical power system due to the use of the electrical power system of the large LED screen, it usually requires a lot of electricity which may have side effects on power quality to the overall electrical power system and the impact on the LED screen itself. The experiment measured of the power quality with a power quality analyzer 3-phase with recorder which various electrical values such as voltage line to line (VL-L), voltage line to neutral (VL-N), current (A), harmonic current or (%THDi), power factor, power consumption (W), and electric energy (kWh) with measured from a large LED screen with 162 cabinets and with dimension is 9 meters wide and 18 meters long, the area of approximately 162 square meters with installed on the wall of a large department store building. The experimental results from a power quality meter with a power quality analyzer 3 phase with recorder demonstrate the load behavior of this large LED screen and IR camera with a ripple up-down of input current and input power according to the pictures and videos shown on the LED screen and has low power factor of only 0.5, which is less than the standard value specified that it must not be less than 0.85 and also has a very high harmonic current or (%THDi) upto 158.5%. This experiment confirms the impact on power quality, that may occur in the overall power system that uses the same power line as this large LED screen. Which may create various problems with power systems such as the current in the power line is abnormally high due to the effects of harmonic currents, this may cause abnormal overheating of the electrical wires, magnetic contactor, and electrical equipment operation that deviates from the normal electrical performance of the load and the very danger is when there is a problem ACB cut off or MCB trip the working circuit without knowing the cause which makes the entire electrical power system inoperable.
Keywords: Large light-emitting diode (LED) displays, Power quality, %Total harmonics distortion (%THDi).
