Ayurveda is the most popular science in the world. Camphor is a white crystalline solid substances, obtained from the tree Cinnamonum camphora,of family Laureaceae. It is widely use around the world for its strong aromatic smell and its medicinal properties. Kapoordhara is a unique combination of ayurvedic medicines which was formulated for a wide variety of gastric diseases, skin diseases, helpful in short breathing at the time of corona virus disease also helpful in the killing harmful bacteria and fungi. Kapoordhara also known as “amrutdhara”. Recent research has focused on its potential as an antimicrobial agents, offering an alternative to conventional antibiotics in the face of rising antibiotic resistance. The aim of the study is to evaluate the antibacterial and antifungal activity of camphor oil and kapoordhara against six bacteria Bacillus subtilis, Neisseria sp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Clostridium sp., Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and three fungi Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus. Its broad-spectrm activity against bacteria, fungi, and even some viruses makes it a compelling alternative to conventional antibioatics, especially in the face of growing antibiotic resistance. Overall camphor and kapoordhara antimicrobial properties hold immense promise for the future development of natural antimicrobials. The antibacterial and antifungal activity is carried out by agar well diffusion technique against those six bacteria and three fungi and the zone of inhibition is measure in mm diameter. In the present study, Camphor oil and Kapoordhara was found to be more effective against both the bacteria and fungi tested. So from this study it can be concluded that camphor and kapoordhara possess antibacterial and antifungal activity.
