Abstract:
Important virulence traits of Candida species include adhesion to host tissues, morphological alterations, and the production of extracellular hydrolytic enzymes. These enzymes are essential for the candida infection's pathogenicity. Phospholipase activitiy in Candida and non candida species isolated from clinical samples of nail scrapings collected from Betul, Madhya Pradesh were examined in the present investigation. Standard mycological procedures were used to identify a total of 50 Candida and non candida species that were isolated from nail scrapings. In the present study phospholipase activity with higher Pz values was found in 96% clinical isolates. Among Non-albicans Candida (NAC) species, phospholipase activity was higher in C.tropicalis. The results of the current investigation indicate that extracellular hydrolytic enzymes are produced by both C. albicans and NAC species. The identification of these enzymes is crucial because it helps us understand how species and infection are related.
