Techno Economic-Feasibility Analysis of Solar Photovoltaic Potential at Roof Top of Halls at IIT Kharagpur
Array Size, Inverter Rating, Photovoltaic Potential, Renewable Energy and Solar Irradiation
Out of different available renewable energy sources, solar energy appears to be most promising in view of its availability during most of the year in most of the countries. In this study, designing and assessment of solar photovoltaic potential at rooftop of hostels at IIT Kharagpur will be analyzed and studied the existing plant of 100kW at the roof top of main building. For installing the solar plant at rooftop of hostels, study of different aspects is necessary i.e., Geographical location, weather condition, load consumption, available non-shaded area and amount of solar irradiation. After selection of study area (rooftop of hostels at IIT Kharagpur), annual electricity demand at IIT Kharagpur, electricity distribution from sub-station 10 to the hostels, the present demand of energy will be analyzed on the basis of data collected through primary survey, maps and information collected through secondary survey. Based on energy demand of each hostel, design of solar photovoltaic module at rooftop of each hostel has been done. In designing of plant, evaluation of the energy required from PV module, watt peak rating from PV module, Number of module, inverter rating and array size and the design of the solar PV power plant capacity will be proposed at roof top of halls (hostels) at IIT Kharagpur.
