Abstract

People express their emotions in a different way but speech through emotion recognition is a very difficult task. This is a primary challenge of emotion recognition are choosing the speech corpora and then feature extraction of a speech signal. Emotion recognition or affect detection from the natural speech is a challenging task in the field of human and machine interaction. In this paper, the performance of the Support Vector Machine (SVM) has been evaluated for two types of databases – simulated (acted) and real-time (natural) speech corpora. In this paper, the work is carried out with a reduction in the size of the feature using Principle Component Analysis (PCA) technique and performance evaluation is done based on emotion classification accuracy.
