Migraine is the most common disabling brain disorder. It usually strikes sufferers a few times per year in childhood and then progresses to a few times per week in adulthood, particularly in females. Attacks frequently begin with admonition signs (prodromes) and aura (transient focal neurological symptoms) whose origin is assumed to involve the hypothalamus, brainstem, and cortex. A migraine is not “just a headache”. It is a neurological condition, which can be very distressing and disabling. Generally it is a one-sided throbbing or pulsating headache that is at least moderately intense and can be aggravated by physical activity. It is quite often associated with nausea and vomiting, as well as increased sensitivity to light, sound and even due to different types of smell. Research is constant, but at the present, we don't know what causes a migraine, there's no clear diagnostic assay and, as yet, there's no cure. However, there are many ways to help manage the condition and lessen its impact - ultimately reducing the disruption caused to everyday life. It affects more than 10% of the general population. Regardless of recent progress in drug therapy for preventing and treating migraine remains unsatisfactory for several patients. The present review will highlight these aspects of migraine pathophysiology, casing an understanding of the difficult workings of the migraine state and thus the brain regions prone for them. We will supplementary discuss the healing agents which have appeared within the primary up-to-date years for migraine concern, from calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonists, gepants; through serotonin 5-HT1F receptor agonists, ditans, and CGRP or CGRP receptor monoclonal antibodies to invasive and non-invasive neuromodulation techniques. One problem that slows the event of latest therapeutic approaches is that the limited understanding of migraine neurobiology. This editorial reviews current understanding of the mechanisms underlying migraine and approaches to treating it.
