Micro-Emulsion, Solubilisation, Topical Drug Delivery System,
Micro emulsions are good candidates as potential drug delivery systems because of their long shelf life, ease of preparation, improved drug solubilisation and administration. They are optically isotropic liquid solution of water oil and amphiphile. Micro emulsions are thermodynamically stable and can be easily distinguished from normal emulsion by their low viscosity thermodynamic stability and transparency. In this article, since the term Micro Emulsion was first invented almost fifty five years ago to describe isotropic, clear and thermodynamically stable composition of water, oil, surfactant and Co-surfactant. The aim of this review paper is to discuss in detail about Micro-emulsions.
