Abstract

Until recently, it was traditional wisdom that provided a vast majority of the people with a basic understanding of life activities. Concerns and efforts related to the application of traditional knowledge systems have been rejuvenated but to utilize its complete potential there is a need of assimilating Indigenous Technical Knowledge with contemporary scientific knowledge. More than 10,000 years old Indian farming was developed by farmers and sages using many practices to effectively cultivate crops in the diverse agro-climatic zones. This paper is based on the study carried out in selected pockets of Seraj valley, District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The area is dependent on farming. The study area was explored to analyze the traditional farming practices and traditional crops, which has been affected by climate change and many of them are on the verge of extinction.
