Abstract: Background: Menopause is a marker of biological aging in women. It is a stage in which there is the transition from reproductive to non-reproductive stage in women’s life. Menopause is a natural event occurring in a women’s life. It is the permanent end of the menstrual cycle where the function of ovarian follicles stops. A random sample of 87 participants was taken. Results: Out of 87 women, 40 women are post-menopausal, 28 women are premenopausal and 19 women perimenopausal. 60.2% of the participants belong to 45-50 years of age. The mean BMI of the participants was 26.20. Hypertension is more prevalent among the participants. The severity of menopausal symptoms in the participants is found to be high and hot flashes are the most severe symptom. 60.9% of the participants are non-vegetarian. Consumption of junk food, packaged food, and carbonated beverages was high and alcohol smoking was low. Physical activity level among the participant was low only 33.3% did exercise. Positive correlations were found when food items were correlated with the symptoms. Conclusion: This survey concluded that nutrient intake, dietary pattern, and a healthy lifestyle may contribute to lowering the severity of menopausal symptoms. And also some food can alleviate the symptoms more. A diet rich in whole grains, fiber, fruits, and vegetables and less refined cereals, and saturated fats help in lowering and preventing the severity of menopausal symptoms.
