Elimination of a Toxic Dye using Justicia Areysiana Leaves: Optimization and Modelling

Abstract:
Due to their detrimental effects on aquatic life and human health, toxic dyes present in industrial effluent must be treated before being disposed away. As a result, Justicia Areysiana Leaves were used in this experiment as a biosorbent to remove Methylene Blue that was produced from a synthetic solution. The impacts of five process variables, including temperature, pH, the amount of biosorbent used, the initial concentration of methylene blue, and the percentage of dye clearance, were examined using a central composite design (CCD). A quadratic model built around the CCD was used to model the reaction. The most significant factor influencing the experimental design response was identified via analysis of variance (ANOVA). The ideal conditions for Justicia Areysiana Leaves powder were 44.30C, pH 7.1, 0.3 g of biosorbent, 48.4 mg/L of beginning methylene blue concentration, and 84.26 percent dye removal. The experimental percentage of biosorption was 76.93 at these optimum conditions. The success of ANN modeling was determined by the relationship between the estimated outcomes of the constructed ANN model and the experimental outcomes. As a result, it was discovered that the experimental findings of the study were quite near to what the model had anticipated.
