Abstract:	Diabetes mellitus is a common chronic disease and a primary global health concern. Diet is one of the important factors in development and management of non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) which must be based on the healthy eating habits in relation to food choices, social, cultural and religious aspects. There is scarcity of data related to dietary habits of NIDDM patient that can be useful to prevent and control complications from diet related non communicable diseases like non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus or type 2 diabetes. The study was conducted to know the dietary habits before and after onset of NIDDM among randomly selected 150 patients of Hisar city. A pretested questionnaire schedule was used to collect the relevant data regarding age, sex, anthropometric measurements, type of visible fat consumed, complications, frequency and dose of consuming vitamins/tonics, food avoidance before and after onset of NIDDM.
