Transnational history - teaching history - educational research - national identity - cultural openness.
Today, more than ever, the Tunisian society seems to be torn between nationalism and the annihilation of national identity. The Tunisian School is at the heart of this ideological quarrel and the question of educational choices in the future reform has not ceased to be controversial. But, beyond ideologies, School must contribute to appease the conflicts and to support the dialogue of cultures. The teaching of history saturated with political, civic and critical ends remains the most sensible way to accomplish this mission of connivance. It is therefore now a question of realizing a real change which eliminates from the historical narrative any ethnocentric approach and is capable of giving an open, comparative history which takes into account the interrelations and the relationships between groups.
