| Abstract: | After gaining independence, the Indian government introduced numerous livelihood programs, social security schemes, and wage employment initiatives. One of the significant initiatives was the launch of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, initially implemented in 200 districts and later expanded to encompass almost all districts in India. This program aims to provide livelihood security for marginal farmers and unskilled unemployed individuals, thereby addressing the issue of rural-to-urban migration. A recent study was conducted in the tribal area of Kinnaur district assessed the satisfaction and awareness levels of unskilled workers, increase of household assets etc. The study was conducted in the Yangpa (1st) Panchayat unskilled workers of MNREGA and the results shows that asset were increased in the households and people were benefitted during the seasonal unemployment. |
