Abstract

Abstract Folk literature includes many branches, and one of the most significant among them is folk songs. Folk songs are essentially the songs of the common people that have been orally transmitted from generation to generation since ancient times. These songs are spontaneous creations of the folk community. Through them, the early human societies expressed their joys and sorrows, happiness and grief. Almost every ethnic group or community around the world has some tradition of folk songs. Within Assamese folklore, Tokari Geet represents a unique and invaluable cultural heritage. Tokari Geet reflects the rustic traditions of the Assamese rural society. These songs are closely connected with nature, human life, and spiritual sentiments. They not only highlight the transient nature of human existence but also inspire a deeper understanding of life’s true values. These songs beautifully portray the intricate relationship between nature and humanity. With this concept in mind, the topic "Reflection of the Relationship Between Human and Nature in Assamese Folk Literature: A Study With the References of Selected Tokari Geet” has been chosen for research. In the forthcoming research work, the subject will be discussed across three chapters.
