Abstract:
In the present study, ethanolic extract of Celosia Cristata. was assessed for the prevention of alzheimer and parkinsonism in rats. Two doses of the plant extract (200 mg/kg & 400 mg/kg) were selected for treatment. The plant extracts produced significant prevention of Alzheimer and Parkinsonism in rats on a dose dependent manner. Based on the above results, it was concluded that the ethanolic extract of Celosia Cristata. has shown good anti-alzheimer and anti-parkinson’s activity against in rats. It may be due to the presence of active phytoconstituents (anti-oxidants) in the extract. Thus, the exploitation of this plant will help the humankind to get potential API or drugs that can be used for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases at very cheap and economically affordable prices. Our study will also avoid the synthetic route for the manufacture of some potential API or drugs and may prevent the huge investment and pollution caused during the synthesis of some potential API or drugs that can be used for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
